Considering that we just impeached a goofball and are enduring some some fireworks with the new guy… it doesn’t bode well that one of the GOP gubernatorial hopefuls spent the afternoon trading sophomoric barbs with the citizens he claims to want to lead and breathlessly giving us his quicktake on minutes-old news by tapping away a seemingly endless string of tweets.
I can understand elected officials and candidates occasionally posting their goings-on and informing citizens of up-to-the-second issues — such as Rep. John Fritchey’s tweets during a group meeting with the governor, also from earlier today — but if Dan “rapier-like wit” Proft truly wants to lead shouldn’t he log off Twitter for a stretch and actually go drum up some primary votes or find some people willing to help gather those signatures he’ll be needing to even get on the ballot in the first place?
…Or does he have nothing better to do with his time at the moment?
(Screen cap from the CapFax Twitter feed with afternoon Proft tweets highlighted. Just sayin’.)

Definitely a jester. And yes, only a twit tweets that much.
It’s embarrassing the guy’s even running.

Dan Proft
Rob,
Thanks so much for the advice as I know a screeching left-winger like yourself has only has the best interests of my campaign at heart.
I promise to give your political advice the consideration it deserves.
I suppose other nuggets of wisdom from you to me would include:
- raise taxes & expand government so we can build upon the highest unemployment rate in 25 years in IL;
- protect the teacher’s unions to maintain the current performance of CPS and other failings school systems;
- support the nine Chicago Democrats who have run Illinois into the ground, 48th in the nation in economic performance over the last decade ahead of only Ohio and Michigan;
- do nothing to reform an unsustainable state Medicaid system which will spend 25% more than it did just three years ago and consume half the state’s budget in 10 years if left in its current form;
- extol the virtues of the trial bar in this state, the folks who, along with their Chicago Dem sponsors, are driving doctors and businesses out of Illinois to neighboring states
Did I miss anything?
Being called a court jester by you is like being called ugly by a frog.
Name-calling in lieu of substance on policy? Gee, I’ve never seen that trick before. How novel.
Regards,
Dan Proft

Must be tired from the campaign trail.
When did the rapier-like wit get replaced with a butter knife? It’s either that or one of the Proft Sockpuppets(tm) hasn’t finished the training sessions yet.
“Screeching”? Really?
…Besides, there are some downright beautiful frogs out there, Mr. Proft, and to borrow your ominous doom-and-gloom tone some are even poisonous. Eek!
To your points:
- raise taxes & expand government so we can build upon the highest unemployment rate in 25 years in IL;
…The recent capital bill’s vote was nearly unanimous (only 2 “present” votes in the House and zero “no” votes in either chamber).
You need to talk to your GOP colleagues about raising taxes and expanding government. So far, Minority Leaders Cross and Radagno have proven adept at being inconsistent in this area.
- protect the teacher’s unions to maintain the current performance of CPS and other failings school systems;
…The unions — like any other group of citizens — can be respected, but yes many school systems throughout the state do need improvement (not just CPS). Given your negativity in even this minor comment it’s abundantly clear you’ll be no better at improving such situations than the our recently impeached, highly-toxic 40th governor.
- support the nine Chicago Democrats who have run Illinois into the ground, 48th in the nation in economic performance over the last decade ahead of only Ohio and Michigan;
…Why nine? Why not eight or ten? Have there been bad apples? Sure. Same goes for your neck of the woods. Human nature is what happens when you elect humans to office.
- do nothing to reform an unsustainable state Medicaid system which will spend 25% more than it did just three years ago and consume half the state’s budget in 10 years if left in its current form;
…Interesting. Proposals offered by conservatives like the Illinois Policy Institute and Republicans like those in the state legislature would actually cost more than our current system. In fact, our current Medicaid system is actually quite reasonable compared to several other states.
Now, if you hate Medicaid and just want to abolish the program … then say so.
But so far I’ve not been able to find any actual “reform” for Medicaid on your campaign site. In fact, you don’t appear to have any proposals, policy statements or even issues pages at all on your campaign site… It mostly seems to be a narcissistic view on not just the state’s news of the day but literally of the minute: A fact that bolsters the point I made in the original post, above.
- extol the virtues of the trial bar in this state, the folks who, along with their Chicago Dem sponsors, are driving doctors and businesses out of Illinois to neighboring states
…Care to explain? Despite the myths perpetuated by Republicans’ big business allies like the US Chamber of Commerce and its Pravda-like mouthpieces such as the Madison County Record regular joes actually do deserve a fair trial.
PS: the Democratic legislature passed “med-mal reform” a while back, why are you still complaining? Do you think people have no right to seek redress for malpractice?
Some citizens of the state have a valid reason for no longer seeing straight because of supposed malpractice, what’s your excuse?
