First it was replacement GOP candidate Marty Ozinga (IL-11) ripping off Obama’s logo with a very similar looking Ozinga08 logo…
Then, in his failed attempt at a presponse to Presidential nominee Obama’s gracious, balanced victory speech, Sen. John McCain splashed a new slogan all across his kelly green backdrop… a new-to-McCain slogan very similar to the slogan Obama has been using this whole time.
Now, we find out Sen. McCain is also mooching not just Obama’s “Change We Can Believe In” slogan, but also his logo and website graphic design.
Why vote for John “mimicks Obama” McCain when you can vote for the real thing?
Then again, seeing as how John McCain has been imitating George Bush these past many years — voted with the Bush agenda 95% in 2007, and 100% so far in 2008 — yet is now suddenly playing Peter by denying the Bush legacy it’s clear his strategy seems to be simply having his finger to the wind … at least, depending on which audience McCain is pandering to.

The horror! Marty used a red, white, and blue color scheme–-just like B. Hussein Obama! And he starts his last name with the letter “O”–-just like B. Hussein Obama! What’s next for Marty, is he going to run a campaign of hope for change–-just like B. Hussein Obama? Those dirty Repiglicans!

A clear example of why friends don’t let friends go to Penn State.
(Go Illini!)
My Nittany Lion friend, of all the infinite possible logos he could’ve come up with, he came up with one incredibly similar to Obama’s.
Go figure. It’s more than just the color scheme and the O/A bookends. It’s the entire style of the Ozinga08 logo which is set with a remarkable resemblance to the already existing Obama08 logo.
And, yes, Ozinga is also trying to claim he’s “the candidate of change” with his businessman/politician campaign theme. An odd claim given that, so far, his public announcements indicate he wants to simply follow the Republican line on the issues. And say what you will about Karl Rove, good or bad, he is widely recognized as the architect of the current Republican political machine — and Mr. Ozinga hired a staffer that used to work hand-in-glove with Mr. Rove.
Apparently “change” means “status quo” to some people…
PS: Let us know your middle name so we can have fun with that too.

robnesvacil, are you sure we’re looking at the same logos?
I’m referring to the logos posted at ArchPundit. It takes a very active imagination to declare them to be “incredibly similar,” especially when one considers the restraints of politics: almost every candidate uses a red, white, and blue scheme, they’re both running in 2008, and their last names both begin with “O.”

Yes, Penn, we’re looking at the same logos.
And no, it doesn’t take an active imagination to see the similarity.
It also doesn’t take much imagination to come up with a logo that has a big “O”, a smaller “ZINGA0″, and then a big “8″ after another candidate — a year ago — started using a logo with a big “O”, a smaller “BAMA0″ and a big “8″.
Even the shades of blue and red are similar.
…Perhaps the only active imagination needed is the one required to ignore the similarity.

Anonie!
So much for the “rational” community! This discussion is SO stupid. Certain candidates now have an exclusive claim on red, white, and blue..and letter fonts & sizing?! GET A LIFE! Serisously, you people are pathetic. Please help the enviroment and stop breathing everyone else’s oxygen.

Coming late to the discussion, eh “Anonie”?
And if you truly think the discussion is SO stupid you can thank Penn Stater for that. He’s the one trying to claim there’s no similarity.
I said it was an imitation, not an exact match. And yes, the design is very clearly quite similar. There’s no “exclusive claim” but obviously these Republican candidates are even out of design ideas (let alone workable policy ideas) — seems to be a trend for our friends on that side of things.
Now, if it were an exact match then, yes, there would be an exclusive claim. It’s called a “copyright”. You may have heard of such a thing.
As for getting a life, I have a great life which I enjoy immensely and for which I am very grateful. Odd that you’d suggest I suddenly stop that just because you’re irritated by my pointing out how Republican candidates are reduced to ripping off Democratic design work.
Have a great day!
