ArchPundit did some research into Princely Heir Congressman Dan Lipinski’s most recent fundraising and expenditures and finds, to borrow his phrase, “Lipinski’s Friends and Family Plan Continues“. Seems to be a good racket for that crew… unfortunately enough for the residents of the 3rd.
Keep in mind Rep. Lipinski is the same fellow the Tribune recently endorsed despite their wavering and unease over his “record” and “ties” to his lobbyist dad (who got him the seat in Congress). Oh, and despite the fact Rep. Lipinski couldn’t be bothered to show up to the editorial board meeting.
Apparently, getting facts wrong (like claiming he’s in his first term?!) and whining about bloggers (hey, that’s me!) is more important to the Trib than endorsing a candidate like Mark Pera who actually represents the district they are seeking to represent rather than being the face of what’s left of a decaying Machine.

What are the polls on this one?
I seriously doubt that the progressive bastions of Clearing and Garfield Ridges (not to mention Oak Lawn) are really going to vote for a candidate that Mascara Markos likes.

…ROFLMAO Dan.
PS: The 3rd ain’t as conservative as you think — esp. given recent swings away from the Bush brand of conservatism, which Rep. Lipinski seems to espouse on the major issues of the day.

I don’t think it’s really conservative. I just think given the choice between a Markos Liberal and a guy named Lipinski that those neighborhoods are going to choose the people least like Dick Durbin.
That – and I’m just saying as a native to that area – the last thing I want is some dickhead from Naperthrill telling me who to vote for.

He has ties to his Dad? The fiend! That’s why I don’t invite mine over for Thanksgiving anymore…don’t want to have “ties.”

Yeah, I think the funniest thing about the n(_)tr00ts on this one is:
“HE’s GOT TIES TO HIS FATHER” routine.
No shit. The sout’ side likes it that way.

Dan, What is a “Markos Liberal”?
There are a number of moderates and lifelong Republicans who post at Daily Kos. Are those folks now “Markos Liberals”?
Markos Moulitsas himself is a recovering Republican
and, if you pay attention to his posts, rather mainstream himself. Does that make people in the mainstream, average Americans, some sort of “Markos Liberals”?
Or do you just enjoy stereotyping people because it’s convenient? Hey, wait a minute. Isn’t a big part of why you blog due to countering others’ stereotypes?
While you’re busy answering questions, are “Markos Liberals” anything like “Loony Liberals”? Or are there fine points of distinction, like one set prefers merlot over cabernet? (Me, I prefer MGD… or a Pepsi. I suppose that makes me… well, you tell me since you’re into this bizarre demographic defining.)
And maybe, just maybe, Southland is sick of the bs.

Dave,
Have you been paying attention to the bullshit his father has pulled?
Or maybe you prefer that America follow the “royalty” model and continue to pass on seats to “heirs”… In that case, you must be pulling for Hillary to inherit the Oval Office seat that is simply hers by rights, correct?
Of course, there’s that and then all the unethical “charity” work that raises funds not for kids but for politicians.
…Seems odd that you two would be in the defense business simply out of partisan allegiance to … the Lipinski clan (?). Maybe they gave yous guys jobs.

I’m not the one here on the public dole. I work for a living.
I don’t support the guy myself…I just went for the joke about the oddly worded statement. As if one shouldn’t have ties to one’s family.

Is anyone here on the public dole?
As has been made clear, the “ties to one’s family” reveal a history of blatant nepotism (perhaps illegally so, given the lack of resident-status evidence) and unseemly funding activities (to put it politely), neither of which should have a place in governing our representative republic.
