It’s disgusting that stories like this about our own American vets are easier to find in foreign media.
Honor our veterans this Veteran’s Day.
Charity Navigator lists their unbiased rankings of the 5 best and worst veteran charities. A very good local organization for vets and their families is SALUTE and I encourage you to learn more about their efforts and donate.

Well,
this happens in all wars really. My one Great uncle got messed up in Korea, and ended up on the streets in the city. Got hooked on smack, and they never did find him. Just disappeared from the streets of Chicago.
Its been happening since the bonus marchers of WWI.
But today has to be blamed on unconsitutional war. That is what folks should remember on Veterans day.

The Senate-approved authorization for the use of force means the Iraq War, ineptly planned and based on lies as it is, does actually pass Constitutional muster. We may not like it, but that’s the way it is. (And that fact makes the recent Iran vote all more precipitous.)
As the rest of your post, it’s been happening long before World War I.

If you believe that, then freedom is really lost.
War can only be declared by congress.
Congress gave Bush the power to attack if we are theatened.
Honestly,
congress was too chickenshit to sign a war declaration, because their votes would be counted.
Its just easier to give it to bush, and blame him, which they did.

So authorizing a president to use military force is just hopscotch?
The Senate gave him the power to invade … and he did.

Use of force in the name of homeland security, sure. Someone is going to invade the USA, then they should be able to call out the militia, and Army.
But not occupying a county.

That was the point on the Iraq authorization.
Congresspeople kept running around saying they didn’t think the Commander in Chief would actually use the authorization for force despite the fact they gave it to him. The President’s lies (ie, lying his way into war) came in the form of the Republicans’ marketing effort to promote the false notion that Iraq was any sort of imminent threat.

Again,
congress gave their power to the pres. Its unconsitutional. Nothing more.

Congress has the power to declare war. What do you think an authorization to use military force is?
The Congress is not the Commander(s) in Chief. The President is. The Congress authorizes him to use the military as it sees fit. They did that, complaints after the fact notwithstanding.
Go back to 8th grade Constitution Class.

So what is Iraq then? They call it a war in congress, the president calls it a war, and war with Iran WWIII,
even the news calls it a war.
So where is that war declaration by congress then?

I’ve already explained this umpteen times Carl.
It’s like you’re in the midst of your terrible twos or something and just won’t listen.

If you use the word “war”,
then its a “war”
Then congress needs a “war” declaration, per the consitution.

Why do you not consider “military force” to be “war”?
Get a dictionary and stop asking what the definition of “is” is, Mr. Parsed Words.

may your chains rest lightly upon thee,
nor the debt placed onto us from this “war” effect you in any way.
Or you like paying $3.15 for a gallon of gas.
Have a nice weekend Rob.

I walk or bike to work.
And I never said I agreed with the Congress’ vote to approve the authorization for force — I’m just explaining your own idiocy to you.

There’s the problem, C-Rock. You think the truth is “idiocy”. But don’t let me pointing out facts stop you (not that you would).

I would just point to the orginal document that says what I mean. The US Consitution. Congress declares war. Makes a war declaration. Please point it out to me.
Do you remember that? OR just pay lip service to it when it fits your “progessive” needs.

C-Rock, If you’re going to be that literal with the Constitution please explain why you’re allowed to drive a car under the Constitution’s parameters. The ability to drive is not specifically outlined anywhere in the Constitution.
I’ve already explained exactly what happened. I understand (and agree) that you don’t like what happened, but the Republican-controlled Congress abdicated some of its powers to the Executive branch. If the Republicans in the House and Senate willingly gave up that power (among others) the only choices you and I as voting citizens have is to vote them out of power and to speak up about it (as we are).
