I ask because, well, I don’t know what to think.
I want a strong challenge against Peter Roskam, but I’m not sure if Col. Morgenthaler is the right choice. She was the Army spokesperson during Abu Ghraib. She has started criticizing the war, but she still defends things up to a point (it was going well, but not anymore). She says she wants the soldiers to come home, but there’s a big “but” in there. I want to get behind her, but I don’t know…
She’s supposed to be formally announcing today. What are your thoughts on this?

I’m not in the 6th, but it seems to me folks ought to wait a bit to see what her positions turn out to be.
There’s a great opportunity for Dems in DuPage and the southern part of NW Cook to host forums and debates between Col. Morgenthaler and Stan Jagla.
Some of the local bloggers — notably Prairie State Blue, Hiram Wurf, Bridget Dooley — could also sponsor events that could be liveblogged.
Let’s let her and Mr. Jagla say what they have to say.

I think I remember hearing Jagla’s name like once.
Got any links so that I can find out about this guy?

Crickets chirping…
Actually, a quick Google search found several hits, including his campaign website.
His name pops up at PSB every now and then too.

It might also be a good idea to actually see her in the flesh. That can put to rest (or exacerbate) any doubts you might have.

Leo,
From what I read, she has been meeting with various local Dem organizations at their regular meetings. Plus, Tammy Duckworth put out that call/email to her supporter, fwiw.
She’s getting a late start, but not a too late start.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the primary but it seems clear that she’s the “establishment” candidate just as were Duckworth and Roskam in 2006. And, I’ve not seen much of a groundgame shaping up for Stan Jagla, but I could be wrong and maybe it’s under the radar.

Errr, that should be “Tammy Duckworth put out that call/email to her supporters…” no slight intended with that faux pas. LOL.
