Rev up the dunce cap assembly line…

First this week came word that supreme time-waster and hypocrite extraordinaire John Bambenek’s crass FEC attack against the Daily Kos blog was so meritless that the FEC not only unanimously rejected the complaint but did so in such a fast turnaround time that it seemed to catch a bunch of folks by surprise. Apparently it’s easier for the FEC to point out the facts to Mr. Bambenek than it is for him to understand them. He’s still whining about it and now threatening a useless appeal to the ruling because he thinks the FEC didn’t understand his complaint. Here’s a clue, John: it’s the other way around. Go figure.

Then, later in the week came word that the conservative Bush Administration decided to ignore all their rhetoric about “free” markets and come out strongly in favor of squashing one of the few actual “free” markets still in existence. Why these partisan conservatives can’t understand just what the results of their advocacy will be is unclear.

Today, in just the latest instance of conservative denseness, Mark Finkelstein at the con-biased media criticism blog “News Busters” takes on what he considers to be the overly partisan and sublimely liberal Ann Curry of the Peacock Network’s Today Show.

Ms. Curry’s supposed crime? Reciting a US military report that seven soldiers were killed in Anbar province and noting that this is the same province which Pres. Bush just visited, proclaiming it was becoming more secure. The screeching Mr. Finkelstein even highlights the really oh-so-very liberal comment for us:

ANN CURRY: The U.S. military is reporting that seven U.S. troops were killed on Thursday, four Marines in fighting in Anbar Province, where President Bush hailed gains in security this week, and three soldiers who died in a roadside bombing in northern Iraq. Their deaths bring the U.S. toll to 3,750 since the war began. (emphasis original to Mr. Finkelstein’s whiny post)

So now reporting facts is “liberal” (facts based on military reports and presidential visits, no less)? No wonder Mr. Finkelstein has a scrunchy-faced confused look in his profile photo. (Yes, that’s a joke so all the humorless dunces out there can calm down now.)

Reading the comments at that blog entry, it’s odd that rather than mourning the supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers Mr. Finkelstein and his Fanatics instead choose to ignore their deaths and pounce on someone who matter of factly tells the truth.

So much for honoring our troops and their sacrifices.

(And all those blindly partisan goofs who try to compare murder stats in US cities to deaths in Iraq ought to try figuring out just how spending so much of our money halfway around the world is helping to improve crime rates in this country. Here’s a clue: it ain’t, y’all.)
