Mommybrain,

There always have been and likely always will be those among us who would rather make things up to explain that which they don't understand than try to delve into those questions to find rational explanations.

Take Galileo's quandry for instance. Again, as Henry Mulder said (and as I quoted above): "There really was only one truth and that was God’s truth. If you should have any idea that did not square with God’s truth then it obviously came from that other fellow, the Devil."

That's from the 1600s.

Same thing happening today, and it is why those who are so virulently anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-liberal, anti-, anti-, anti- are so strident and black and white in their view.

From what I've read, in their mind you're either with them or you're against them (or, to them, you're either with their view of God or you're with Satan).

I've also touched on some of these issues in other recent posts here, here, here, and to an extent here. Tangentially related posts are categorized under the "Grassroots" Conservatives tag.

As for C-Rock's comment that it is their $ to spend, I agree. It is and it is well within their rights to spend it how they so long as they are not harming anyone.

This is why I wrote this line in the post above: "Of course, the great thing about America is that you are free to ignore all the facts you don’t like and are free to believe any ol’ silliness you’d like to believe."

But it's also my right to point out how their efforts are misguided and detremental (as Narc and Mommybrain have pointed out).

I never said the fact they spent the money was wrong. I illustrated how rational folks ought to pay attention to it instead of simply laugh at it.

And c-rock, if you don't understand what's the big deal, you aren't paying attention. Millions of already delusional people will go to the museum, read the crapo-pedia and take it for gospel...so to speak...and become even more firmly convinced of their delusions.

WE are living in interesting times, fer shure.

Wow, this post has opened up a whole world I never knew was out there. Very scary and you are right, we laugh but they are deadly serious. Thanks for pointing out some further reading I clearly need to do to understand these morons' "reasoning". I just don't understand, still, how it got to be this bad.

They're spending money to advocate for a superstition and calling it science. It distorts the facts and contributes to the ignorance of the American people. That's the big deal.
